The Love is a Choice design was inspired by Jesus' comments about loving God and our neighbor as ourselves being the two greatest commandments.
Jesus further clarified what is considered neighborly using a story that highlighted people who chose to be merciful or not to be merciful. While God wants this to be our code of conduct, He doesn't force us to do anything (including love); He lets us choose. The bible says "let us not love in word or tongue, but in deed and in truth” which means we should show love not with our words but through commitment and action. Actions speak louder than words.
Sometimes we get so wrapped up in what's going on in our lives that we forget to even acknowledge those around us. A smile is such a simple act of kindness that can make a big difference to the recipient. Love is a choice is a reminder to, at the very least, look up and see those around us.
